operators (TSOs) in two European regions: Elia Transmission in
Belgium and 50Hertz Transmission in north-east of Germany, one of
the four German TSOs. Both TSOs operate at the heart of the
European electricity system as they provide vital links between the
various electricity producers and their 30 million end users. The
Group’s high voltage network, with its intricately meshed 18,600 km
grid, transports the electricity generated by the producers to the
distribution system operators and major industrial consumers.

different steps in the energy value chain. Therefore, we are

The Innovation Manager (f/m/d) takes new initiatives, experiments
and thinks beyond set structures and boundaries. If you find these
characteristics in yourself and if you have entrepreneurial
experience either in a start-up or in a larger company, or if you
are an entrepreneur at heart, you might be our future Innovation
Manager.
The required ambitious infrastructure extension to better integrate
renewables, coupled with the continuous need of asset-maintenance
is raising many challenges to which innovative solutions could have
the answer. Artificial intelligence to predict maintenance, virtual
reality to better prepare construction or drones / robots for
inspection are only a few examples of what innovation can bring to
our business. Therefore, we are then looking at accelerating
innovation development in the field of Asset management and
infrastructure development.
In this position, you are stimulating the sense of innovation
within the Elia Group by taking various awareness initiatives and
independently managing your own portfolio. The target is to connect
and build a digital ecosystem linked to Asset Management and
Infrastructure development innovation initiatives by identifying
the needs for innovation, and launching the projects and structures
to realize them.
Also part of this role:
- Collaborating with the different entities of the Group to
work out strategic and innovative projects to realize or contribute
to strategic analyses as requested by the Executive Committee in
order to guide the Elia Group in the requested
direction, - Managing a part of our external partner’s network
(Transmission System Operators, Distribution System Operators,
Universities, Start-ups, suppliers, etc.) and representing Elia or
the Group in various organizations and innovation forums (like
ENTSO-E, EASE etc.), - Setting and leading your own pilots in order to
test innovative concept and technologies according to the
identified needs, - Efficient coordination with various departments in
Elia and 50hertz, external partners and technology
providers.
Your profile
- Successfully completed degree in commercial
or civil/industrial engineering, - Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in the
Transmission System Operator (TSO) Business or in the innovations
management of utility companies, - Experience in the field of Asset Management
is a must, experience in System Operation or in the field of energy
market mechanisms is also an advantage, - Good basic knowledge of project management
with some successful realizations; - Capacity to work autonomously in an
international environment, - Fluency in English and German (written and
spoken).
